Women's Basketball Volunteers at Little Jewels
July 11, 2013
NORMAL, Ill. - Members of the Illinois State women's basketball team recently volunteered an afternoon of their time at the Little Jewels Learning Center, at both the Normal and Bloomington locations.
While at the Little Jewels locations, the Redbirds played with the children, colored, had snacks and even had time for a few basketball drills.
Little Jewels Director April Steigerwald enjoyed having the student-athletes on site to spend time with the children.
"We love having role models from our community visit with our children here at Little Jewels," Steigerwald said. "One of our overall goals is to help children grow and help make our world a better place. The more opportunities we give our students to explore what is available in our community, the more likely they are to set goals for themselves in the future."
The Little Jewels Learning Center is a family-oriented daycare that provides childcare for kids ages six weeks to school age. Their vision is to provide a place for families to feel connected, children to grow and learn, and opportunities to share in making the world a better place.
