NORMAL, Ill. – Hannah Green, Simone Goods and Paige Saylor were each selected to the 2018 All-Missouri Valley team, the conference announced Wednesday. Green was named to the MVC First Team, Goods earned Honorable Mention and Saylor was selected to the All-Defensive Team and the All-Freshman Team.
Green, a senior from Santa Clarita, California, averages 12.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and leads the Valley averaging 2.0 blocks per game. This season Green has been named as the MVC Player of the Week and was selected to the Long Beach Classic All-Tournament team. Green also made a mark in the Illinois State record books as she rejected 130 shots throughout her career, placing her third all-time in that category.
"I have been so impressed with Hannah's drive and desire to become an MVC All Conference caliber player" Coach Gillespie said. "This award is a testament to long hours she put into her game during the off season."
Goods, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, leads the team with 13.7 points per game and averages 6.0 rebounds. Goods has been named MVC Newcomer of the Week three times, MVC Player of the Week and was the Long Beach Classic MVP. Goods has scored 20 or more points in six games this season and has had four double-doubles.
"Simone has done a great job overcoming a few injuries to emerging as a force in the paint in MVC" said Gillespie. "Her play down the stretch definitely earned her this award."
Saylor, a freshman from Martinsville, Indiana, averages the most minutes in the Valley with 37.9 per game. The point guard is a force to be reckoned with, as she continuously frustrates her opponents, averaging 2.5 steals per game, which also leads the conference. Saylor is also top 10 in the Valley in assists per game, averaging 2.7.
"Paige continues to exceed every expectation that our staff has set for her" Coach Gillespie said. "Like Hannah, Paige has an incredible drive to become great. There was not a more valuable freshman in the conference than her! The best part of Paige's game is that she gets it done on both ends of the court."
"I am so incredibly proud of Hannah, Simone and Paige" said Coach Gillespie. "What a tremendous honor for not only them, but also for our entire program! I know these three would be the first to recognize all the hard work of their teammates in helping them achieve these honors."
