"Anna Marema looked good today on vault and especially bars," ISU head coach Bob Conking said. "I also thought Gabrielle Cooke was strong on floor and Marie Priest on beam. Meredith LaRoche was very strong on all four events today and did one of the best floor routines of the year."
LaRoche placed fourth in the all-around competition with a score of 38.825, which was aided by her performance on floor, where she scored a 9.775 and on beam, where she scored a 9.675. She also had a personal-best score of 9.750 on bars to aid her high all-around score.
Cooke showed immense strength on the floor, where she placed first with a 9.900. She also came in fifth place in the all-around competition to aid the Redbird's second-place finish. Marema placed fourth on bars with a personal-best score of 9.825. Priest also had a fourth-place finish on beam, where she scored a personal-best score of 9.800.
"I thought we had a good meet minus a few mistakes on beam," Conkling said. "Vault was good, but we still need to work out landings. We will focus this week on being consistent on beam, form and execution on all the events."
The Redbirds stay home next weekend and welcome Lindenwood to Horton Field House. The meet is on Friday, Mar. 10, beginning at 7 p.m.
