Women's Basketball Recruiting Class Ranked top 75

NORMAL, Ill. –The Illinois State Women's Basketball team was tabbed in the top 75 by Preferred Athlete Scouting Services (PASS) following the announcement of the 2018-2019 recruiting class.

The top 75 list included all Division I schools that announced the signing of at least two high school seniors on Wednesday. PASS then sent out an update as schools received more national letters of intent, and the Redbirds landed 13th.

The second release was categorized by major and mid-major conferences, and ISU took first place out of the Missouri Valley Conference schools. Missouri State followed at 14th, Southern Illinois at 28th, Valparaiso at 36th and Bradley was an honorable mention.

"Our staff is extremely excited," said head coach Kristen Gillespie. "I think it speaks volumes about the work our coaches have done to rank in the top 75 in the first year. We have a lot of work to do, but I know we are   headed in the right direction to get back to being a power house in the Missouri Valley."

Coach Gillespie has a rich history of recruiting success at the Division I level. In 2004 she played a key role in recruiting a Top-20 class for N.C. State. She has coached five players who played professionally, including a WNBA First Round draft pick, and recruited the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year.
