NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State men's basketball head coach Dan Muller has announced that Luke Litwiller has been added to the 2017-18 roster as a walk-on.
"I've really enjoyed having Luke in practice so far," said Muller. "He has been with us for a few days now. I actually met him on campus at one of the orientation events, and he asked about walking on. I saw a guy with a bit of size which was nice. He seems like a great kid and a really good worker, and he also has some talent. We are excited to have Luke join our team as a walk-on."
A native of Stanford, Illinois, Litwiller played for Olympia High School where he was named to the All-State 1A/2A Fourth Team. Last season he averaged nearly 15 points and 7.5 rebounds, paving the way to earning All-Corn Belt Conference Second Team honors as a senior.
The Redbirds open the 2017-18 season with an exhibition at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5 against Lewis. The team tips off the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Florida Gulf Coast. Illinois State's first regular-season home game is on Nov. 22 with an 8 p.m. battle against Quincy.
