Redbird Basketball Programs Perform at Hoopfest

NORMAL, Ill. – In front of 2,114 fans, the 2017-18 Illinois State men's and women's basketball programs performed and showed off each of their respective squads at Hoopfest on Friday night on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.

The season tipoff event – held in conjunction with Illinois State Homecoming – started with the crowning of ISU's Homecoming King and Queen.

Both basketball programs were then introduced to the crowd, followed by a skills competition.

During a red team vs. black team women's scrimmage, Hannah Green scored a game-high nine points in the unscored team event.

In the men's scrimmage, Phil Fayne scored a team-high 12 points for the red team, while Daouda Ndiaye scored 10 for the gray team.

The Illinois State women's basketball team opens its competition season with an exhibition against Eureka on Wednesday, November 1, before opening the season on November 11 in Rochester, Michigan, against Oakland. The ISU women open its home portion of the season on November 15 when the team hosts Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m.

The Redbird men's team starts its season on November 5 with an exhibition against Lewis, before taking to the road for its first four games. The regular season home opener for ISU is on November 22 with an 8 p.m. contest against Quincy on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.
