NORMAL, Ill. – The 11th annual Redbird Fan Fair will take place Saturday, Aug. 15, on the Illinois State campus, where patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy the Redbird football scrimmage, carnival games and music. The fair will be held at "The Plaza," located in between Redbird Arena and Horton Field House from 2-4 p.m.
The event, which is free to the public, is held in conjunction with the official kick-off of the 2015 fall athletics season, as the football team will be holding a scrimmage following the festivities at 4 p.m., in Hancock Stadium. Free parking will be made available on first come first served basis in lots surrounding Hancock Stadium.
The first 500 Reggie's Kids Club members in attendance to check in at the table will receive a free official Reggie's Kids Club T-shirt. After the 500 member limit is reached, T-shirts will be available at the Illinois State Athletics Ticket Office for $10. Â Reggie's Kids Club is now free for children aged 12 and under.Â
Each member receives Reggie's monthly eNewsletter and mobile updates about all the Reggie's Kids Club events, a birthday card from Reggie and give-a-ways and invitations to exclusive Reggie's Kids Club events. Children who have been signed up in the past do not need to "renew" their membership. Once a child is signed up, their membership stays active until they turn 13 years old. Student-athletes and coaches from Illinois State's 19 varsity sports teams will be on hand at the event, assisting in the various fair games. They will interact with the fans and will be signing autographs on a limited basis. Â Additional activities include free face painting by The Zoo Lady, inflatable games provided by Fun on the Run and a climbing wall provided by Upper Limits.Â
Also a part of this year's festivities is the annual Spirit Photo, in which new students have the opportunity to take a photo on the field at Hancock Stadium with members of the Big Red Marching Machine, the ISU cheerleaders and Reggie Redbird. Â The photo will be taken at 3 p.m., and students are encouraged to stick around for the Redbird football scrimmage at 4 p.m.
