ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
NOMINATION AND MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
CATEGORY I.
Student-Athlete: Nominated for their athletic achievements
during their playing career at Illinois State University.
A. Strong preference will be given to graduation from Illinois State.
Inductees must have exited the institution in academic good standing.
B. Eligible five years following graduation or playing career.
C. Varsity letter winner at least two years (or given equivalent
accomplishment as verified by Department of Athletics through the
Media Relations Director).
D. Outstanding performance and achievements as a student-athlete
which brought exceptional distinction to the individual and/or Athletic
Department during their playing career at Illinois
State University.
CATEGORY II.
Student-Athlete: Nominated for their outstanding achievements
or recognition which ensued
after their playing career at Illinois State University.
A. Strong preference will be given to graduation form Illinois State.
Inductees must have exited the institution in academic good standing.
B. Eligible five years following graduation or playing career.
C. Former Illinois State University athlete-varsity or junior varsity
level.
D. Outstanding career and achievements which have brought exceptional
distinction to the individual after graduation from
Illinois State University.
E. Shown interest in Illinois State University Intercollegiate Athletics
in any one of the following ways:
...by participating in athletic events or activities
...financial support at any level
...volunteer or personal support
CATEGORY III.
Current or Former Illinois State University Coach or Administrator
or Personal Staff:
Nominated for their outstanding contribution to Illinois State Intercollegiate
Athletics.
A. Outstanding career as a coach or administrator or professional
staff member that has brought exceptional distinction to the individual
and athletic department. Number of years of service and other consideration
will be at the discretion of the Hall of Fame Committee.
B. May not be an active coach, administrator or on staff at the
time they are selected for induction.
CATEGORY IV.
Team: Nominated for outstanding achievement and recognition
at the national level.
A. Based on post-season competition at the national level; generally
in the final four, elite
eight, or All-American status (or equivalent accomplishments as
verified by the Depart-
ment of Athletics through the Director of Media Relations--consideration
can be given to
examples when a national tournament did not exist.)
OVERALL CRITERIA: Beyond the criteria listed above, it is expected
that the nominee is a person with a high standard of conduct and
character beyond reproach. Nominations
can be made by any person.
