Four-year letterwinner in track and field and began his Illinois Sate coaching career as a graduate assistant immediately after concluding his athletic career in 1959 ... hurdler in college ... began a nine-year run in 1965 as Redbird cross country and track head coach ...coached seven All-Americans ... won the 1971 IIAC conference championship ... was the university chairman of health sciences ... track referee in both the Missouri Valley Conference and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin ... also coached track at St. Charles High School.
