Four-year letterwinner in track and a two-year letterwinner in basketball ... co-captain of the 1953 track team ... placed second in the discus, and fourth in the shot put, at the 1953 NAIA Nationals Chapionships ... he and track and field teammate Bob Eudeikis, who won the javelin, combined to give the Redbirds third place in the national meet by themselves ... starter for the ISU basketball team ... won three-straight championships in the IIAC, after placing second as a freshman ... as a senior, he set a conference record of 155 feet, 4 1/2 inches, which also stood as a school record for two decades ... after graduation, he reached 176 feet while competing for Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in military service ... produced two Illinois state champion discus throwers as Bloomington High School coach ... coached at Bloomington, Delavan and was the first athletic director at Olympia High School ... administrator at Unit 5 schools ... inducted into the Olympia High School and Bloomington Normal Officials Association Hall of Fame.
