Four-year letterwinner ... played shortstop and pitched for the Redbirds ... finished his career with a 16-7 record and a 3.28 earned run average ... second team All-IIAC selection in 1965 after posting a 2-0 record and a 3.82 ERA ... became the first All-American in Illinois State history, selected to the College Division All-America Team in 1966 ... selected to the District Four NCAA All-Star Team, a first team All-IIAC pick, and ISU's MVP in 1966 ... co-captain of the 1967 team which won the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship ... as a junior, he was 8-1 with a 2.09 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings ... promising professional career with the California Angels was halted by a family tragedy.
