John Munn has been with the Illinois State's athletic training program since 1992 and was appointed as the men's basketball athletic trainer in 1994. Munn's responsibilities include attending all men's basketball practices and games. In June 2006, Munn was named head athletic trainer. In addition to his duties with the men's basketball team, Munn also helps instruct and manage the student athletic trainers at ISU.
Prior to coming to ISU, Munn was a graduate assistant at Indiana University, while pursuing a master's of science degree in athletic training. At Indiana, he provided rehabilitation and treatment for the Hoosier football team and assisted in First Aid coverage for the men's basketball team. He also helped schedule and supervise student trainers.
Munn completed his bachelor's of science degree in health and sports science at Wake Forest, where he was a student trainer, in 1990. He was responsible for care for all Wake Forest athletics.
Munn is certified with the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). He is a member of the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association and the Illinois State Athletic Trainers Association. He is also certified in CPR and First Aid by the American Red Cross.
Munn and his wife, Janet, reside in Bloomington, Ill., with their two sons, John and Andrew.
