 | Position: Athletics Media Relations Graduate Assistant

Kevin McCarty is a second-year graduate assistant in the Illinois State Athletics Media Relations Office. The Hutchinson, Kan., native is currently pursuing his master's degree in kiniesiolgy and recreation with a concentration in sport management. McCarty serves as the primary media contact for the Redbird baseball team, the secondary contact for the football team, and the co-editor of Illinois State's game day programs for football and basketball.
McCarty designed and edited the 2008-09 men's basketball game day program, along with media relations graduate assistant Jill Speer, that was tabbed the third-best in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
McCarty came to Illinois State from Kansas State, where he graduated in May 2008 with a bachelor's degree in public relations, following three years as a student assistant in the Wildcats' sports information office. He was the primary media contact for the K-State men's golf team in 2007-08 and covered women's tennis for the two years prior. His 2006 women's tennis media guide received regional honors from CoSIDA.
McCarty also spent three summers working for Athletes in Action in the Texas Collegiate League, a summer collegiate baseball league, where he started as the web site manager and finished as the assistant general manager.
McCarty and his wife Brooksie reside in Bloomington, Ill.
