Larry Lyons

Larry Lyons, C.P.A., is in his 26th year at Illinois State. He oversees business operations, facility operations, external operations, human resources, the Weibring Golf Club and supervises the athletic training, athletic equipment and strength and conditioning units, and provides administrative leadership for men's and women's golf and baseball. He assists the Director of Athletics with Football and Men's Basketball. During the spring of 2011, Lyons served as the department's interim director of athletics. Major facility construction and renovation projects completed under his direction include Kaufman Football Building (2000), Owen Strength and Conditioning Center (2005), Hancock Stadium Fieldturf (2007), video scoreboard installations in Redbird Arena and Hancock Stadium (2007), Gregory Street tennis facility (2008), the baseball stadium at Duffy Bass Field (2008), Redbird Arena Media Room (2010), Redbird Arena Video Production Suite (2010), and the Franke Family Men's Basketball locker room (2012). Current projects under construction or renovation include the volleyball locker room, baseball artificial infield, Mounier Golf Practice Facility and Hancock Stadium east grandstand/club/suites/press facility. The Illinois State alumnus, who also has a degree from the University of Illinois, serves as the athletics department's liaison to the university for human resources, administrative and fee-related projects. Currently he serves on the Campus Master Plan Committee, the Long Range Financial Plan Team, the Capital Planning and Budget Team, the Auxiliary Facilities System Review Team, the Data Stewardship and Information Technology Services Council and the Campus Facilities Charges and Access Work Group. Lyons and his wife, Maureen, have two children: Matt (28) and Kristin (25). |
