Jimmy Knodel Position: Assistant Media Relations Director

Jimmy Knodel is in his second year as an assistant media relations director at Illinois State. He serves as the primary media contact for women's basketball and women's soccer and oversees gymnastics and women's swimming and diving.

Knodel came to Illinois State after an internship at Syracuse University, where he was the primary media contact for women's soccer, women's tennis, men's crew and men's and women's swimming and diving. He also served as a secondary contact for men's basketball and men's lacrosse. Knodel received his bachelor's degree in sports information and communications from Ithaca College in 2006. While at Ithaca, he worked in the sports information office, primarily with football, women's basketball, softball and field hockey. A native of Cooperstown, N.Y., Knodel interned at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum for three summers and also had a summer internship in the public relations department of the Baltimore Orioles in 2005.
