After working as a graduate assistant for the Karin L. Bone Athletics Study Center for the past year, Kelli Pawelko returned to Illinois State as a full-time employee and academic coordinator, working with volleyball and women's basketball.

Before starting at Illinois State in a full-time capacity, Pawelko spent the summer at Wisconsin as an intern over the summer as an intern in the Academic Services and Student Development. At Wisconsin, Pawelko assembled the 2013 spring semester academic report. She also over saw and mentored incoming freshmen student-athletes enrolled in summer course, while supervising the football summer study tables three times a week. Pawelko also prepared an academic overview report of the department and created a database for career contacts and alumni for student-athletes.

As a graduate assistant at Illinois State, Pawelko monitored the academic progress of 17 student-athletes on the men's and women's track & field and cross country teams. With that responsibility, she maintained and generated reports for coaches pertaining to study halls and academic progress, while communicating on a variety of levels with faculty and staff about student-athlete progress in the classroom.

Also at ISU, Pawelko worked with a wide range of departments across campus to meet the needs to diverse student-athlete population. As the tutor coordinator, she trained tutors on policies and procedures within the department, university and NCAA, while creating daily and semester tutoring reports.

Pawelko received her undergraduate degree in education from Cincinnati, where she played soccer for four years. As a student-athlete, Pawelko started in 67 career games for the Bearcats as a key contributor on defense, twice being honored by the Big East Conference. During her time at UC, Pawelko was a four-year executive board member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and as a senior; Pawelko was the co-recipient of the Helen Norman Smith Award given to the top graduating female student-athletes at Cincinnati.

Prior to joining the Study Center staff in 2012, Pawelko coached youth soccer in Cincinnati for the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy and worked as a counselor for both the men's and women's Bearcat Soccer Academy summer camps.

A native of Lemont, Ill., Pawelko is on track to graduate with her master's degree in college student personnel administration from ISU in May 2014.
