Running back on Illinois State football teams that posted a cumulative record of 20-4-3 during his first three seasons ... led the 1950 Redbirds to a conference championship and a berth in the Corn Bowl ... set an Illinois State rushing record (782 yards) in 1950 and came back in 1953 after two years in the Marine Corps to break his own record (814 yards) and become the team MVP ... enjoyed coaching success at Onarga, where his teams were undefeated in his two years ...also coached an undefeated El Paso team in 1957 that posted six-consecutive shutouts to end the season... taught for 29 years at Euclid High School in Euclid, Ohio ... also coached cross country, track and football.
