Jason Fairfield is in his first year with Illinois State, working as the Assistant Director for Development. In that role, he assists in the fundraising efforts for the department and the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund, as well as overseeing the Redbird 4 Life (RB4L) program, which works with former Redbird student-athletes to organize special events, reunions and fundraising initiatives.
Prior to coming to Illinois State, Fairfield worked for three years at Bradley as Director of Corporate Sales. Fairfield came to Bradley, after working as a Strategic Consultant at Agile Sports Technologies in Lincoln, Neb., and brings with him both collegiate coaching and athletic administrative experience.
A 1997 graduate of Southern Illinois with a bachelor's degree in education, Fairfield was a wide receiver for the Salukis during his playing days and later earned his master's degree from SIU in 2009.
He started his career in athletics at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., where he was an Assistant Football Coach for four years (1999-2002). In addition to his coaching duties, Fairfield was an Assistant Academic Coordinator for the Athletic Department.
Fairfield returned to Carbondale, Ill., in the summer of 2003 and spent a year as an Administrative Assistant before returning to the sidelines as Graduate Assistant Coach for the 2004 and 2005 seasons, working primarily with the SIU tight ends.
He spent the 2006-07 and 2007-08 school years as an Assistant Football Coach at Nebraska-Kearney, before moving off campus to work with Agile Sports Technologies.
