A member of Illinois State University's athletic staff for 40 years (1931-70) ... head baseball coach from 1947-63 with a career record of 224-207 ... won conference championships from 1954-56 ... joined the Illinois State baseball program as an assistant coach to Howard Hancock in 1931, while also serving as a backfield coach in football ... retired from Illinois State in 1970 ... was an outstanding athlete at Akron University, earning 10 varsity letters while participating in track, basketball, football and baseball ... also a member of the Akron Sports Hall of Fame and the Summitt County (Ohio) Hall of Fame...Frye passed away at age 83 in 1992.
