Drew Claassen is in his first year with Illinois State, working as the Director of Fan Experience in the marketing and promotions department. In that role, he will oversee the initiatives of Red Alert, the official student spirit group of Redbird Athletics, as well as volleyball, women's basketball and baseball.
Claassen, a two-time alumnus of Kansas State in 2009 and 2011, will be joining Illinois State's staff, after most recently serving as the Assistant Director for Group Sales and Marketing for the Illinois Athletic Department. At Illinois, Claassen coordinated group ticket sales for football, men's and women's basketball, was in charge of executing group ticket events and assisted in the development of a state-wide interactive data collection campaign, where fans were awarded for sharing their contact information with the department.
He also held the position of Associate for Marketing at Iowa State Athletics, where he led the marketing efforts for women's basketball, aiding in the average increase of attendance, and oversaw the Cyclone Alley student spirit group. Other positions Claassen has held include undergraduate work in the K-State Athletics Department, as an assistant for fan experience and sales, and a marketing intern.
The Western Kansas, native currently resides in Champaign, Ill.
