Captained Illinois State's unbeaten (8-0-2) state championship football team of 1907 ... named to the 1907 All-Illinois Team ... captained the 1908 track team ... reported to be one of the first football players to use the forward pass, curling the ball off his elbow ... noted for his hurdling ability, both as a ball carrier before the tactic was illegal, and as track star ... went on to teach and coach at Pontiac High School among other Illinois schools before moving south ... later coached at Jacksonville State (Ala.), and also served a stint as athletic director ... died in 1971 at the age of 79.
