Alex Lovern serves as the Athletic Video Services Coordinator in the Redbird Production department. In his role, Lovern oversees all game day operations for football, and both men's and women's basketball, in addition to assisting with the daily demands on the video department, including editing, shooting and graphic design.
Lovern, a telecommunication graduate of Ball State, will join Illinois State's staff, after most recently serving in multiple capacities within the video production field throughout the Cincinnati area. As his main profession, Lovern worked as a videographer and overnight editor for WXIX-TV Fox 19, where he shot live footage and edited news stories for multiple station newscasts.
While holding the Fox 19 position, Lovern also assisted with the video production responsibilities of the Cincinnati Reds Major League Baseball (MLB) team, Cincinnati Bengals National Football League (NFL) team, Ohio Sports Television and Time Warner Cable Sports. With these organizations, Lovern served in positions ranging from freelance shooting and camera operation to production assistant.
Along the same lines of his more recent positions, Lovern has other athletic video production experience, ranging back to 2005. As the entertainment and production assistant for the Dayton Dragons, a Single-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, Lovern operated and built graphics, ran the instant replay machine during games and coordinated all video requests. Prior to working with the MLB triple-A Dragons, Lovern worked as a cameraman, among other responsibilities, for the Fort Wayne TinCaps, Kwokman Productions and Ball State Sports Link.
