Four-year pitcher ... 1933 team captain ... became a noted basketball coach in 1952 when he took the tiny Alden-Hebron High School, with an enrollment of only 98 students (42 boys), to a 1952 state title with a record of 35-1 ... Alden-Hebron is the state record-holder for the smallest school to ever win a state title in the single-class system ... won a total of 13 regional championships at Elgin, Streator and Streator Woodland ... member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
