Redbird Athletics Inks Partnership with #Tagboard

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Athletics Department is proud to announce its new partnership with the social media software company Tagboard, to enhance the fan in-game social experience.

As a new feature for in-arena sports, starting during the men's and women's basketball seasons this year, Tagboard's browser-based live mode and custom display application will be featured on the Redbird Arena video board, as part of the in-game entertainment. Illinois State fans will now have the opportunity to interact with other fans or ISU Athletics (@ISURedbirds) throughout games in a live setting that will then be displayed on the video board for others to see, or to join in on the conversation.

By fans simply using #BacktheBirds or any of the other department encouraged hashtags, when they post on social media, the Redbird Athletics staff is then able to composite posts from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Google+ and, to generate posts to show on the video board through the Tagboard aggregate software.

"With the addition of Tagbaord's application, we are taking a step in the right direction when it comes to enhancing the fan experience and entertainment level at ISU Athletic events," Strategic Communications Director Megan Thompson said.

Along with the browser-based application, the new partnership will also provide customized embeddable applications that can be displayed on ISU Athletic websites. When big moments in games occur, we will not have the opportunity to display what fans are thinking right as it's happening. This is also a way for fans at home to connect with fans in the arena.

Based out of Redmond, Wash., Tagboard provides a software platform that uses hashtags to connect content from multiple networks in a comprehensive and engaging visual format. Users can self-discover, interact with and join discussions all within a single, easy-to-use feed.
