Taste of Redbirds Prepares Fans For Game Against Bradley
Jan. 31, 2007
NORMAL, Ill. - The hype and excitement surrounding the Illinois State men's basketball game with Bradley continues to grow each and every year the game is played at Redbird Arena. For the past three years, Redbird fans have had an opportunity to make sure their stomachs are full before tip off and this year will be no different, as the Illinois State athletics department will hold its 4th Annual Taste of Redbirds prior to the game from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Horton Field House.
Over a dozen local food and beverage vendors will be in attendance at the event including: The Doubletree Hotel, Denny's Doughnuts, Flinger's Pizza, Alexander's Steak House, Jimmy John's, Schlotzsky's, Central Station Café, Famous Dave's, Times Past Inn, Così, Qdoba Mexican Grill and Avanti's Italian Restaurant. Tickets will be sold for 50 cents apiece at the door and each vendor will price their own food and beverage items.
Assistant to the Director for Annual Funds, Larry Morlan, is excited about holding the event once again and giving Redbird fans a chance to prepare for the game against Bradley early.
"This event is something we look forward to every year for a couple of reasons," said Morlan. "The first is to give our vendors who support Redbird athletics so much some more exposure to our fans. The second reason is to give our fans a place to gather before the game, eat some great food and get fired up and take that enthusiasm over to the arena for the game against Bradley."
In addition to the food vendors, the Alamo II will be in attendance selling Redbird clothing and merchandise for fans to purchase. There will also be a "Reggie Fun Zone" where younger fans can participate in games and watch free entertainment.
