Illinois State Gymnastics Hosts a Pink Meet

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State gymnastics team will host a PINK meet on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., when it competes against Western Michigan at Horton Field House. In support of breast cancer awareness, fans are encouraged to wear pink.
Illinois State will be wearing pink leotards in honor of breast cancer awareness. Admission to the meet is free and all in attendance will receive complimentary pink bracelets courtesy of the Community Cancer Center.
ISU head coach Bob Conkling, is honored to support breast cancer awareness.
"We are very excited about hosting a PINK meet for breast cancer awareness,” said Conkling. “This is something the ladies on the team have been pushing for us to do and the time was right this season. We hope fans will come out wearing pink and support us in our efforts for breast cancer awareness.”
The opposing team, Western Michigan, will also be contributing to the efforts in the support of breast cancer awareness.
Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of death for all women and the leading overall cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 20 and 59. The most common risk factors of breast cancer are sex, age, personal history, family history and breast cancer genes.
