Horton Field HouseIf spacious Horton Field House could speak, its sturdy voice would narrate a comprehensive history of the last four decades of Illinois State athletics. Within Horton's walls, champions have been crowned, and tradition builds for the future as it continues to develop the outstanding men and women who wear the Redbird uniform. Once primarily the home of Redbird basketball, it now serves as a competitive venue for indoor track and field, swimming and diving and gymnastics, while providing valuable and versatile practice space for virtually all 19 Illinois State sports. The facility opened in 1963 and houses a six-lane, 200 meter indoor track and practice facility, athletic training facility, equipment room, Horton Pool, locker rooms for several ISU sports, athletics offices and classrooms for the Illinois State Kinesiology and Recreation Department. North Gym serves as an alternate practice facility for the basketball and volleyball programs and South Gym is the practice facility for Redbird gymnastics.
